A Process Algebraic Approach to Time Granularity
نویسنده
چکیده
In this paper we develop a theory for timed systems which relate to time granularity. We use the well known equivalence of bisimulation to study the eeect of changing granularity. We identify situations where measuring time more accurately has no eeect on the equivalence. Similarly we also present a few situations where measuring time less accurately has no eeect on the equivalence. We also present properties of the situations where the semantics is indeed altered by a change in time granularity.

An Algebraic Approach to Granularity in Qualitative Time and Space Representation
Any phenomenon can be seen under a more or less precise granularity, depending on the kind of details which are perceivable. This can be applied to time and space. A characteristic of abstract spaces such as the one used for representing time is their granularity independence, i.e. the fact that they have the same structure under different granularities. So, time “places” and their relationship...

متن کاملRecent Developments in Discrete Event Systems
This article is a brief exposure of the process approach to a newly emerging area called "discrete event systems" in control theory and summarizes some of the recent developments in this area. Discrete event systems is an area of research that is developing within the interstices of computer, control and communication sciences. The basic direction of research addresses issues in the analysis an...
متن کاملThe Exact Solution of Min-Time Optimal Control Problem in Constrained LTI Systems: A State Transition Matrix Approach
In this paper, the min-time optimal control problem is mainly investigated in the linear time invariant (LTI) continuous-time control system with a constrained input. A high order dynamical LTI system is firstly considered for this purpose. Then the Pontryagin principle and some necessary optimality conditions have been simultaneously used to solve the optimal control problem. These optimality ...
متن کاملWater Flooding Performance Evaluation Using Percolation Theory
Water flooding is a well-known secondary mechanism for improving oil recovery. Conventional approach to evaluate the performance of a water flooding process (e.g. breakthrough and post breakthrough behavior) is to establish a reliable geological reservoir model, upscale it, and then perform flow simulations. To evaluate the uncertainty in the breakthrough time or post breakthrough behavior, thi...
